About

If I think of stuff that can be

a) written down without risking arrest

b) is interesting

c) at least fairly funny or

d) just plain daft …

it may end up on here.

I’m a mental health professional and co-author of a book called Introducing Mental Health. I live in Weymouth, Dorset and come up with most of my best ideas on the beach. Hence the title.

We’re* lucky enough to live ten minutes walk from the sea.  I’m usually on the beach with a dog but sadly there isn’t one just at the moment. The absence of a dog means the occasional odd look while I’m looking wistfully out to Portland, but that doesn’t stop the constant flow of thoughts and ideas that pour in and out of my head.

I used to write loads online but have got out of the habit these last few years. This resurrected blog is about everything and nothing. There’ll be a bit of local interest, a bit of travel, a bit of stuff that might end up on Trip Advisor (if I didn’t hate Trip Advisor), some Amazon reviews if I think they’re interesting enough, some thoughts on an excrement-filled internet, and lots of opinion on films, radio and TV. In the absence of anything new just yet, I’ve imported some old stuff from previous posts. Self-plagiarism never bothered me. If it was good then and still relevant now, it’s in.

So if people read Notes from a Beach, great. If they like what I scribble, even better. But if nobody gives a shit that’s fine. I’ll at least have had the pleasure of writing.
